From the "other groups"

So that's it then? Other 'groups' (by which I assume that we are not  churches, just 'groups') 'do good works' (a very general term) but it is the 'autonomous Baptists [who] have believed in and practised [original emphaizes the 'and practiced'] the ten traits below which are clearly emphasised in Scripture and which are timeless in their effectiveness in local church ministry." So writes Paul Chappell in his recent article which you can read here for yourself.

We all like to write about our heritage. Most of us, however, manage to do so without denigrating others. Under God, I am very proud of my Presbyterian heritage. Having said that, I haven't written any distinct article on it, even though there are 300+ articles on this blog with a few still residing in the drafts folder. Then there is my Protestant heritage. This wider designation enables me to bring in Anglicans like the English reformers and men like Bishop Ryle, Methodists like John Wesley and those Baptists like Spurgeon and FB Meyer etc., who didn't play word games. Plus others also. I have covered my Protestant heritage a bit more extensively. A Protestant index awaits your attention both at the end of this article and on the sidebar.

I do not doubt that many Independent Fundamental Baptists both believe and practice compassion for souls and have a mission strategy etc. I am glad that it is so.  However, it is worth saying, that when you read IFB tweets and blogs to see from where in church history they draw many of their examples, where they find their inspirational quotes and inspect the shelves of their libraries, you find that they run to those practically dismissed in the sentence in Mr Chappell's article linked above which starts with the words "Because even though..."

See what I mean? FTR: None of the above were Independent Fundamental Baptists.
